Post-Easter examination session

Our students are fast approaching the final hurdle in this year’s music calendar. The post-Easter exams begin next Tuesday 8th May and will run for two weeks, with examiners visiting from both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Leinster School of Music.

We encourage all exam candidates to make a final effort now to do their very best in these exams. The long bank holiday weekend presents an excellent opportunity to put in extra practice. Support from parents at home will be very helpful in this regard.

We wish the best of luck to all our students in the coming examinations!

Upcoming exams and musical evenings

We are heading into a very busy period of the school year! Next week marks the beginning of our pre-Easter examination session. Exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music will run from Monday 12th March to Friday 16th March, while exams with the Leinster School of Music will be happening on Friday 23rd March.

Coming soon after that will be two highlights of the music calendar: our annual musical evenings. The Primary School & External Musical Evening will take place on Tuesday 17th April at the Scoil Angela Primary School and the Secondary School Musical Evening will be the following Wednesday 25th April at the Ursuline Secondary School. We encourage your attendance on both of these special nights!

Pre-Christmas examination session

It’s hard to believe that the pre-Christmas examination session is already upon us. The first term of the year has been flying by and students have been using that time to prepare for exams with both the RIAM and the LSMD. These will run next week from Monday 27th November and we wish all candidates the very best of luck!

Associated Board theory examinations

Welcome back to all students and staff after the midterm break!

We are straight into the pre-Easter exam session, beginning with the Associated Board theory examinations this Wednesday 1st March. Our theory students, studying at various levels under Mr Paddy Butler, will sit these exams from 5pm to 8pm. Areas assessed will include rhythm, pitch, scale writing, comprehension and composition.

RIAM exams will take place throughout next week and LSMD exams will be at the end of this month. We wish the very best of luck to all our exam students.

Dates for the diary

With a busy calendar of events coming up, please take note of the following important dates:

Tuesday 21st March: Secondary School Musical Evening, taking place in the Ursuline Secondary School gym hall

Wednesday 29th March: Primary School Music Evening, taking place in the Scoil Angela Primary School hall

Week beginning Monday 6th March: Pre-Easter examinations with the Royal Irish Academy of Music

Friday 31st March: Pre-Easter examinations with the Leinster School of Music

Finally, St Angela’s closes today for the midterm break and will reopen on Monday 27th February. We hope the break will be both enjoyable and productive!

Welcome back to a new term

St Angela’s Academy of Music opens today after the Christmas break. We hope all students are rested and rejuvenated for an eventful term ahead.

From now until Easter, and further to the summer break, the school will be extremely busy – there will be pre-Easter and post-Easter exam sessions with the RIAM and LSMD, as well as examinations with the Associated Board and Comhaltas. Much-anticipated events in the school calendar will include the Secondary School Musical Evening and the Primary School & External Musical Evening. Many of our students will also participate in Junior and Leaving Cert practicals as part of their state exams.

There will be plenty happening so do check back in for further updates!

RIAM Gala Concert and End of Term

The Royal Irish Academy of Music held its annual Gala High Achievers Concert last Wednesday 7th December and we are delighted to say that the Ursuline Secondary School’s Chamber Choir was one of the performers on the day. In the academic year 2015-2016, over 40,000 musicians took part in the RIAM Local Centre examinations. 300 were deemed High Achievers and a selection of these performed in regional concerts around the 32 counties in October and November of this year. Only 10 were chosen to participate in last Wednesday’s Gala Concert at the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin, therefore it was a fantastic achievement on the part of the Chamber Choir to have been selected for performance. Very well done!

We would also like to say congratulations to all students involved in the recent music examinations here at St Angela’s in November. The standard was very high, with many distinctions, and we hope you were pleased with your results.

Finally, we extend warmest wishes to all students, parents and staff as we wind down for the Christmas break. The school will reopen on Monday 9th January 2017. We bid everyone a peaceful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year!

Pre-Christmas examinations

The 2016 pre-Christmas examination session at St Angela’s Academy begins next Monday 28th November. There will be three days of exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and a day with the Leinster School of Music as well. We wish the very best of luck to all students presenting themselves at this session.

Exam time is upon us once more!

May has begun and we are now into one of the busiest periods of the school calendar. As we come to the end of the final term of the year, many of our students will participate in post-Easter exams with the Leinster School of Music, the Associated Board, the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Comhaltas.

The LSMD exam day is this Thursday 5th May, while the ABRSM examinations will take place over two days on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th May. The RIAM exam session will run for two weeks from Monday 9th May to Friday 20th May. In addition to this, the traditional music students will take their exams with Comhaltas on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th May.

St Angela’s Academy wishes all students the very best of luck!

Pre-Easter exam time

Today marks the beginning of the pre-Easter examination session at St Angela’s Academy.

This evening, our Associated Board theory students will sit a two-hour written exam, while earlier in the day students studying with the Leinster School of Music will take their practical music exams.

Next week there will be a full five-day schedule of practical exams for students studying with the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

We wish all our students the very best of luck!
